This structure was built as a residence for Namizo Fukushima in 1908. In 1921, Seiroku Moroto became the owner of the house, which was gifted to Kamakura City in 1980. The exterior is extremely ornate. The Greek-style balcony columns are adorned with medallions, while the door and window frames feature elaborate decorations. The interior has a classical atmosphere.
This structure is a valuable surviving residence from the Meiji Period, and the density of designs and ornamentation is among the highest not only in Kamakura City but also in Kanagawa Prefecture.
